I Watched the Melania Doc so You Don't Have to

WARNING: All Spoilers

This past week, I ventured to Main Street, Ventura, on a dark, eerily quiet Monday evening to watch the new documentary about Melania. “Why am I here?” I kept muttering to myself under my breath as I purchased tickets to a different film, so as not to signal any willing formal endorsement of the movie.

As I sat down with a fellow filmmaker, we looked around out of curiosity to see who the other four people in the room were. The two to the right of us seemed possibly too infirm to know what they bought tickets for, and the other two behind us were snickering a bit, so I assumed they were also here to watch a $40 Million trainwreck leave the station.

Support VORTEX

Most of our stories live behind the OLO members-only paywall. Memberships help keep this project alive, but they only cover the basics.

If you’re a local business, sponsoring a story is the most direct way to reach our readers while supporting independent coverage in Ojai. You can choose to sponsor this story and bring it in front of the paywall, or back future stories that matter to you.

We don’t have a sales team chasing sponsors — so if you value VORTEX, now’s the time to step up.
