GENERAL INFORMATION

How to Borrow the Truck

What it is: A community pickup for short hauls around the Lower Valley. Free to use; there’s a donation envelope in the cab to help with insurance and upkeep.

Where it lives: 243 El Roblar Dr., Meiners Oaks — at Jody Lewis’s place. Sign-out clipboard is on the South Padre Juan fence.

Who it’s by: Eric Hodge (Hodge Podge Mobile Garage) & Aaron Zweig.

Quick start

  1. Sign out on the clipboard at the South Padre Juan fence.

  2. Scan the QR on the truck to get the lockbox code.

  3. Grab the keys, unplug the battery charger, and stow the cord.

  4. Start the truck (see the video below for the starting sequence).

  5. Do your run (Ojai Valley Lumber, mulch, dump, curb-treasure, etc.).

  6. Return to 243 W. El Roblar Dr., park, plug the battery charger back in, lock the keys, and note your return on the clipboard.

House rules (short + sweet)

  • Stay in the Lower Valley. No Ventura runs. No Upper Ojai runs.

  • Manual only. If you’re new to stick, ask about lessons.

  • Put in a few gallons of diesel or leave some money in the envelope because upkeep on this truck is a community endeavor.

  • Be gentle. No hazardous loads; tarp/strap anything sketchy.

  • Leave it tidy. Shake out the cab, empty the bed.

Help

If it won’t start and you’ve watched the video, the Hodge Podge Mobile Garage might be able to help; Eric or Autumn can advise if they’re available.
