CYCLING / NATURE BOY

There's often talk the world Raised by falling stars We are the fathers wanting to feel like arguing Final layers will fall Radiant fires recall Running away you go Off by your Estimation Heee hooos Payments are a lullaby Deeper than broader Any fine weekend Run away to find each other It's all in the wait In the final kiss I'd Put the kid into the bed Rushing through Don't it feel like heaven Instead Instead...

Who’s from Ojai?

Mikael Jorgensen | Isaac Koren

Some months ago, Mikael and Cassandra and Isaac and Sophie packed up their kids and shot a magical music video at Taft Gardens with Meiners Oaks filmmaker Nicholas Weissman and projection artist Jules Weissman. The cover of this round-up is a screenshot from this much-anticipated video for “Cycling,” the A-side of this digital release from Expandards. Have a listen while we await the return of live music to Greater Goods, a relocated Underground Exchange, or perhaps even the soon-opening Ojai Playhouse.

WE THE POWER

From Patagonia Films:

“Imagine upending the traditional energy system and giving the power of clean electricity production back to your neighbors. We the Power follows friends, families, and visionaries as they break down legislative barriers and take power back from big energy companies to put in the hands of locals. The film chronicles local cooperatives from deep in Germany’s Black Forest to the streets of ancient Girona in Spain and the urban rooftops of London, England, as they pave the way for a renewable-energy revolution and build healthier, more financially stable communities.”

A contemporary portrait of a small Louisiana town created at the site of the world’s largest lumber mill. Captured here in its last days after thirty years, Miss Dixie Gallaspy conducts a charm school for girls in order to teach the young women of Bogalusa the social graces and skills that would guide them into “Ladyhood”. Dixie’s week long school, in a town confronted with many challenges (including a legacy of racial conflict and financial dissipation) preserves fragments of a world that may already be lost. A film by Steve Richardson, filmed and co-directed by Joel Fox. Produced by Flying Mind LLC.
